Greetings Sista's

Greetings My Sisters, and Fellas,
I have joined the ranks of those who are desperately in Love with their Sisterlocks. I begin by giving much thanks to my dear friend, though we have never met, Blaqkofi. You are my inspiration. Thank you so much for all you have contributed to us newbies, as you so carefully and maticulously documented your journey. You are Beautiful inside and out. (Blaqkofi's blog ) I also want to thank my Wonderful Husband, Rafael, for all of his support and Loving Kindness as I embarked upon this new journey of self discovery.

1 Year Anniversary

1 Year Anniversary - Yeaaahhhh! My, how time did fly.

Since I don't have to braid and band anymore, I now wash my hair in the shower. The above pic's were taken just out of the shower and my wonderful hubby snapped away as I had a ball striking different poses.
I would like to share a Beautiful piece that Choosen Vessel posted on her site. Thank you so much for sharing Choosen Vessel.

"My Song" by Carole

Denver's Premier Loctician Carole Pearson wrote a piece called "My Song" that speaks on the struggles we face in our society regarding natural hair. It is a powerful and inspirational piece that I wanted to share with you all.
Please take the time to watch the video, you will be blessed. As Carole says in "My Song" just remember YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL JUST AS YOU ARE!

Thank you Carole for sharing your heart with all of us!

8 Months

My goodness how time flies. Thought I'd better take some pics before the 8Th month slips away. I also just removed the soft spike curlers that I put in last night.

(Last Night)
My hair has just been retightened; now it's time to roll. I love these soft spike rollers, called Lockloops. They give me a tight long lasting (about a week) curl. (I ordered them, at a very reasonable price at http://www.lockloops.com/index.html ) I moisten my hair with a mist spray, then roll and place the pointed end into the hole on the other end.

7 Months Locked

7 Months Locked

I fall more in love with my locks with each passing day. The freedom from chemicals, heat, and greasy hair is bliss. And most of all there is such little effort and such wonderful results. I wash my hair every 2 weeks with Avalon Clarifying shampoo, mixed with Sisterlock shampoo. The Sisterlock shampoo used alone, although diluted, left my scalp very dry and itchy. I get much better results now that I'm mixing the two together. After washing I roll with soft spike rollers. They are very comfortable to sleep in and they create great, long lasting curls. Needless to say "I Love My Sisterlocks"!!!

6 Months Locked

Here is my Mother standing with my uncle. My Mom is a very classy lady, who dresses as if she is about to walk the runway every time she walks out the door, even if it's just for a short trip to the store. She has raised three daughters and tried earnestly to instill in us a certain dignity, and manner of presenting oneself, especially in public. Well, needless to say, my locks doesn't fit her idea of properly groomed hair. She hasn't come to understand why I want to lock my hair. I hope someday she comes to know the beauty and freedom of our hair in its natural state. I hope she also comes to understand the mental slavery and brainwashing associated with stretching our natural hair into submission. When our minds are set free, we are free indeed.

Before Sisterlocks

Sisterlocks are what my soul has longed for, for a very long time. Unfortunately, I knew nothing about them until the summer of 2007. I am so thankful that the knowledge finally came my way . I 'm very particular about my hair and I prefer a style that is somewhat classy, yet easily managed and as little or no chemicals as possible (which is why I love Sisterlocks). Here I am (with my Honey) before the discovery of Sisterlocks.
6 Months Locked
Here are my sisterlocks at 6 months compaired to my locks at 1 month (top photo). I knew to expect the scalp to show in the beginning, however; that didn't last long. I prefer to roll with the perm rods after washing at this stage. The curls last about a week. I Love the curly look. At night I cover them with a silk scarf. You can clearly see just how much the hair thickens between the 1st and 6th months. I Love My Sisterlocks!!!

Our Wedding Day

5 Months Locked

I Married The Man Of My Dreams. We had a double wedding with my sister-in-law and her love, on the lake. - My locks are 5 months old now. Still just babies. I didn't do anything special to my locks for my wedding. I simply lightly moistened and rolled the night before. The next morning I fingered the curls into place and wrapped the sash that matched my dress. I am loving every step of this journey. It is so very liberating, wholesome and self defining.
